Potluck

Yesterday I started the following blog entry…
Some f***ing motherf***er made caffeinated coffee in the decaf pot yesterday at work. I know this because a) the coffee tasted better than usual and b) my head feels like 1000 jackbooted thugs are holding marching drills on the backs of my eyeballs. I wish I could [...]

Modern Mythology

Last night I saw Batman: The Dark Knight at the IMAX Theater at the Minnesota Zoo. The tickets were a bit steep but it was well worth it in my opinion. The movie was both larger than life and also, surprisingly, a commentary on the times we live in.

Religions of our Presidents

I’ve been doing some research, in response to repeated claims by many that Christian leaders have formed this country into what it is today.
First, a list of presidents who were essentially irreligious (not belonging to any church):

WARNING: Naval-gazing post ahead…
The last few days I have been going through all my blog entries here at RyanSutter.net, beginning at the beginning with my first post in 2001. Apparently March 27 marked the 7 year anniversary of my online journaling but I hadn’t thought to commemorate the anniversary. Today I will do [...]

The Garage Door

Prior to moving into a townhome, one of our options was an automatic garage door opener, for which the contractor charged an very high price. So I decided to put one in myself. It was a lot of work! It took so long, that my friend who was helping me install it ended up going home and I had to finish up without him. A few days later, he called to ask if I had finished getting it installed. I told him that I did. He said I should film the door going up and then e-mail it to him as proof that it really worked. This is what he received via email the following morning…

The Life and Times of Red

I’ve had other mice, but Red was my favorite. I adopted him from the humane society and even then he had weight issues. I tried giving him healthier food options, but maybe he just had a slow metabolism. He enjoyed just laying around, and whenever I took him out, he would just sit in my hand or on my shoulder. My wife made this tribute to him shortly after he passed away – set to music written by one of my favorite musicians and performed by another of my favorites. I know Red wasn’t a dog or a cat, but he was still a friend.

The RPM Challenge… The 19th Day

I’ve been intending to blog about the RPM Challenge as I went along but to be honest every time I’ve wanted to take a moment to do so I have decided I would be better served spending my time actually working on the album or sleeping or seeing my wife or, well, just about anything [...]
