I Don’t Believe in Theists

So, it’s lunchtime and I’ve been having a lovely day sitting at home working remote with my girl.  I got up early, got the kiddo off to school, came home, learned how to make hollandaise sauce, threw together some eggs benedict, and set about my day.  I decided to take a peek at my Google [...]

Dylan Moran = Awesome

Dylan Moran, one of the funniest people on earth (judging by the brilliance of Black Books) is dead on with this one…

Is It Possible to Build Faith In a Creator? Um…

For the most part the Watchtower and Awake! magazines stick to selling their views and managing the members of the Jehovah’s Witness community. Every once and awhile, however, they decide to take a pot shot at the nonbeliever. The latest Watchtower magazine in it’s article “Is It Possible to Build Faith in a [...]

Why Do Americans Fail To Understand Science?

In particular, I was listening to a discussion of the topic “New polls indicates a dim view of U.S. scientific achievement” (listen to it here). God As I Knew Him – Part 4

As I chronicled in Parts 1, 2 and 3 of this series, God and I had a long rocky relationship. We went from good buddies to uncomfortable partners to, ultimately, distant relatives. The end came far more swiftly than I had ever imagined possible.

Things I Found Interesting Today

It’s nice to see that Radiohead is still managing to sell copies of In Rainbows despite giving it away.  See RIAA?  We’re not all pirates, ya bastards.  Another cool thing I heard about today is this new stuff that turns any surface into a speaker. How cool is that? Now we’ll be able [...]

Syd Speaks Up On Religion…

The other day I was in a meeting with my son’s mother.  She complained to me that he has become increasingly vocal in his criticisms of religion and religious faith (especially Christianity) and she figured it was my fault for “teaching him atheism”.

A few more book reviews

Here are some thoughts on some books I’ve read semi-recently, in no particular order, just for fun  (more can be found here):
- The King in Yellow by Robert Chambers: A collection of short stories, beginning in the Victorian Gothic Horror genre with a few really Poe-ish things, but eventually turning into endless pointless tales about [...]
