I’m admittedly a little bit of a believer in a generally holistic approach to life. I am open minded enough to accept that remedies and diets passed down through the centuries by cultures around the world have at least the potential to be of value. I am also skeptical enough of western culture and it’s pervasive belief in it’s own approach to solving all of lifes problems through the reductionist method to agree with a writer like Michael Pollan when he argues against “nutritionism” in his book In Defense of Food. I utilize Buddhist practices in my daily life because I believe it’s the soundest science of mental health that our species has figured out to this point. All that said, however, new age stuff annoys the crap out of me.
I’m currently browsing the shelves at Present Moment in Uptown Minneapolis and finding things like this:
Yeah… Right.
