The sudden relaunch of RyanSutter.net owes itself to a bout of insomnia and a suggestion from my buddy George (from FUS http://www.firstunitariansociety.org) that I investigate a hosting company called Blue Host, which he uses over at http://www.myaurora.org. I signed up for Blue Host and started playing around with the Fantastico software they have for easily installing web applications. I quickly settled on Word Press for my blogging needs and decided to consolidate all the journaling/blogging I’ve done ever since I got my first account over at DiaryLand.com in 2001. I took my DiaryLand, LiveJournal and Blogger.com posts and brought them all in here. The resulting size and scope of this blog surprised me, consisting of over 140,000 words written in the space of 5 years on a large number of topics.
The big question mark I have in my mind now is, does anybody besides me care? As a LiveJournaler I was connected to a web of friends, most of whom were Jehovah’s Witnesses. Now, as an XJW, they’re pretty much nixed. When I was blogging on Blogger.com it was mostly related to my whole religious deconversion process. I had interested readers on that particular topic, but I’ve kind of moved through that phase today. I’ve got my blog listed with the big blogosphere sites, like Technorati, but seeing as how I’m unlikely to write a whole helluva lot about Britney’s crotch or Saddam’s execution, I think the possibility of widespread interest in my blog is negligible.
And you know what? For the first time in my life, I really don’t care. I’m just psyched to have a single place I can point to and say “there, that’s meâ€. This is that place, and this time I plan to keep it around.
