OK, so today Apple is releasing some new kind of digital device. I don’t know what it is, what it does or what it’s called. I only know it’s “not a Mac” and I am going insane because I WANT TO KNOW!!!

I wish it was being webcast right now, but unfortunately, it’s not. It’s a media-only, invitation-only event and the rest of us are being shut out of it.

I firmly believe it will be a new product that will appeal to PC and Mac people alike but will convince people of the coolness of the Mac platform. OK, so the very fact that I’m writing this journal entry means I am a nerd. I accept that. However, it’s just, well… their products are so amazingly cool and life changing that I am really addicted.

Case in point. This journal. Do you know how I write my journal? I write it on a 10 year old Mac Powerbook 170. This computer was built before most people had ever even heard of the World Wide Web, in fact, the year the web was invented. It has a black and white screen. Not greyscale, but pure black/white. No shades. The hard drive is 80MB. It has 8MB of RAM. On the other hand, I can get on the Internet with it, do email and Live Journal and Instant Messenger and surf the web. I can play games, use it to connect to my Linux computer and my G4, create high-quality text print output, play CD’s and connect it up to scanners and other peripherals. Plus, it’s portable, tough and the battery runs for quite a while. All this and it’s 10 years old. No Windows machine from 1991 can do this. None. They are all useless, this thing still has a life and will for the foreseeable future. I got it for $29! So, I’m Mac obsessed. Shoot me.
